Bluewater Sailboat Beneteau Oceanis 46 was the second-largest model in the Océanis lineup when it was introduced in 1997.

Armel Briand is credited with the design of the new Oceanis 461 by Beneteau and Bruce Farr. With a D/L of 157 and a beamy structure that carries beam to the transom, the boat is anticipated to be a fine sailor thanks to the Farr design office’s influence on the hull’s form. Her Bruce Farr-drawn hull is nearly identical to the sporty First 45F5, and she has a quick turn of sail. Although some have said her build quality is on the light side for serious ocean-bashing, she has proved equally successful as a large family ocean cruiser, a charter yacht for a couple of families, and a blue-water residence for a couple. The Oceanis 461 and First 45f5 both utilized the identical Farr Hull, with the addition of a new deck and 2.5 feet to the waterline in the stern.
