The Bluewater Sailboat Pacific Seacraft 40, the modernized and larger sister of the famed Crealock 37, adopts the same design ideas that made the 37 such a classic bluewater cruiser – seaworthiness, sea-comfort, and real-world performance. The hull is built solidly and traditionally. Above the waterline, the fibreglass is hand-laid with osomsis-resistant vinylester glue and balsa coring (and away from any through hull fittings like chainplates). The coring significantly increases hull stiffness. The decks are similarly made of balsa wood. The hull-to-deck flanges are pulyurethane-bedded, through-bolted, and topped with a teak rubrail. Internal bulkheads are attached to the hull and deck through bolts and bonds.
Below decks is a practical bluewater plan that will work well both at anchor and at sea, with features such as a U-shaped Sailboats Galley and a seagoing double quarter berth. There’s lots of well-thought-out stowage, especially for long-distance travel. Engine access is also advantageous.
